I am a Consultant Anaesthetist on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council (GMC Registration 3163252). I obtained my medical degree in Canada and worked initially as a General Practitioner. I later trained as a specialist in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in Toronto, Cambridge, Brisbane and London, obtaining specialist certification in both Canada and the United Kingdom. I sub-specialised in paediatric anaesthesia, training at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, The Hospital for Sick Children at Great Ormond Street, London, and The Royal Children's Hospital in Brisbane, Queensland.
I have worked as a consultant at Cambridge University Hospitals (Addenbrooke's Hospital) since 1986, specialising in paediatric anaesthesia and anaesthesia for liver and kidney transplantation. I have edited and co-authored a major textbook (Anesthesia and Intensive Care for Organ Transplantation, 1998) and have co-authored a number of research papers and reviews in the field of transplant anaesthesia. I am Past-President of the Liver Intensive Care Group of Europe (www.licage.net) and serve on the Council of the International Liver Transplantation Society. I am also founding editor of the Liver Transplant Anaesthesia and Critical Care Forum (www.litac.net), a specialist website for doctors training and working in this field.
I work at the Cambridge Lea and Nuffield hospitals as well as at Addenbrooke's. My work at all of these is reviewed in an annual appraisal process administered by the Medical Directorate at Addenbrooke's, as well as in the individual quality assurance programmes of the three institutions.
I may be contacted through Ms Lizzie Garner at the Nuffield Hospital on 01223 365605. Please note that we welcome your comments on this website, particularly if you feel that something should be added or clarified.
